My Story

I started my photography journey in 2006 taking photographs of my best friend in a rock band at college. I had a little point and click camera that had no option to turn off the flash so I was always having to be creative to get the images how I saw them. I loved capturing those moments that you could blink and miss and showing an image to someone who hadn't been there and they'd feel the atmosphere immediately. I remember the moment I realised I needed a more advanced camera very clearly; I was at a performance the stage crew turned on a smoke machine which rose eerily around the band and the images came out looking like a white cloud with legs even though in reality there was a mysterious and theatrical feeling on stage. I wanted my photos to tell THAT story, to feel the mystery and theatrics, to tell a story about the band even though you couldn't hear the music. I started taking images of my friends and tried to emulate the same idea. Capturing their personality in an image even though the view might not know them.

I decided to invest in the cheapest Nikon DSLR camera I could find on a very popular shopping website named after a South American river. Not long after it arrived photography became a part of who I am and what I was known for. 16 years later that passion is still as strong and I've been fortunate to turn it into my career. Still to this day creating images is the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about at night!
